I'm a die-hard S5 user, I just shot a feature film using that camera, but one thing I have to point out about the video is that the Sony A7sIII has never been $3,000. $3500. Makes the S5 even more appealing. :-) especially when you consider that you can get it now for about $800-$1000 all over the place, while the Sony A7sIII has maintained its price pretty much, to this day.

@@RockWILK fair point on the a7s iii, i think there were a couple on sale used around $2,800 when I was writing the video but they have held their value pretty good. The S5 value is hard to beat though!

I got mine (pretty cheap) a month before mk2 came out and was devastated at first but realised I only use AF for photos anyway and have no issues at all. Great bit of kit!

Since I have the ii I just put my 1 up for sale, but honestly it's still very good, especially for photos.

Can be had here in the UK on MPB for less than £600 like new condition. A no brainer for me I think. Thanks for the video.

Ive been recommending the OG S5 for a long time. You cant get more for your money, its that simple. I got mine for $700 new off FB marketplace, so no tax. You could shoot a hollywood movie with this beast. The autofocus is great, this creator culture hypes autofucus way too much anyways. Manual focus will always be the choice on a real set. Also, the photo presets are pretty sweet!

I agree I’ve used it’s with some old canon FD lenses and it’s 10 out of 10. Also some people say it’s not good for wildlife or sports, but I will disagree because I’ve put a telephone lens 70 to 300 and I got amazing pictures out of it

Just for the record I use hi res mode all the time! Handheld is no problem with native lens! 50-1.8 🤌🏾

On which camera your headshot (this video) was shot on?

I love my s5 for general photography, better than expected. Ergonomics are spot on (similar to Pentax, better than my A7Riii) I originally got it as a backup (wt ibis/evf) for using the Sigma lens I brought for my fp&fpL..

I genuinely would recommend going for the S5ii nowadays, it goes on sale way too often and that PDAF is way too good to pass up on for the price.

fair point, I'm hoping I can get my hands on an S5ii soon to try it out

@@leiyangphoto I have one myself and I adore it. It’s also a woefully underrated photography only camera.

The S5iix has the better autofocus, opengate etc .. but the S5 has better image quality
